In which, quite unexpectedly, my evening is dominated by Cubans

Due to thunderstorms, I missed my connection to Europe and ending up spending a night in Miami. Determined not to feel sorry for myself, I caught a shuttle to the Embassy Suites, got a table for one, and ordered a glass of “Lost Angel” Pinot (which felt, in a self-righteous way, appropriately named) and journalled for a while. I also ate my first meal since breakfast, so that was great.

Listening to the thunder, trying to find a silver lining, I decided I would wear red lipstick, jump on the hotel bed until I was winded, and then watch a comedy on pay-per-view, which turned out to be a delightful enough combo to undepress me.  (Unfortunately my intellect and my tear ducts suffered a major miscommunication upon discovery of my missed flight, and I ended up walking up to American Airlines kiosks and unsuspecting fellow travelers at the Miami airport with full-fledged waterworks running down my face, which everyone was polite enough not to acknowledge.)

Here’s to a more successful day of travel today!
